For public releases, please check the releases page. For the latest development version, you may clone the master branch with the below command.

The content of the repository folder hbc has the files of the latest compiled version.
Setup

In order to setup the port, you have to:

copy the content of the download release (or the hbc repository folder) to your SD/SDHC card.
copy system roms files to sd:/wii88/rom directory.
copy game roms files to sd:/wii88/disk directory.

The emulation performace is better with original NEC PC8801 roms, but you can also use the pseudo BIOS available here.
Usage

When pointed to the screen, it is possible to use the Wii Remote to control the emulator options. You can use the Wii Remote as a mouse cursor. To open the menu, press the Wii Remote plus button (mapped to F12 key). The Wii Remote minus button could be used to exit the menu (mapped to ESC key). To select a game image, go to the DISK tab, select the game disk file (.d88), and push the OK. Finally, go to the RESET tab, select the according BASIC MODE for your game, and push the RESET button.

On release 0.1.1, it is possible to change button mappings and/or create independent mappings for each game image. See hbc/wii88/rc/default.rc and src/keyboard.h for guidance. For example, if there is a image file named Game.d88 in disk directory and a mapping file named Game.d88.rc in the rc directory, the custom key mappings are loaded from Game.d88.rc. Otherwise, the mapping from default.rc file is used.

LOADING GAMES
-------------

The firmware ROM files in /apps/xroar are essential. If the emulator starts with a screen full of @, it means that it failed to find the files.
Refer to the manual(xroar.pdf), chapter 6 for more information on these files.

To load a program, open the main menu, chose 'Load File' and select the file. It will try to start the file automatically if 'autorun' is enabled(by default).
If it doesn't start, here are the general commands :

- Disks(.vdk, .dsk) : Type[Enter] to list the files and see the executable. For Dragon, type RUN"FILE.BAS" or RUN"FILE.BIN".
For Coco, type RUN"FILE.BAS" or LOADM\"FILE.BIN\":EXEC

- Tapes(.cas) : Type CLOADM:EXEC (machine code) or CLOAD:RUN (Basic). Dos emulation must be disabled.

- Cartridges(.rom, .bin, .ccc) : they should all autorun, if it doesn't run, the file isn't supported.

Before loading another game, you may need ro reset the machine and/or toggle DOS emulation.
Sometimes, a software needs specific commands to start. Consult the game manual.

JOYSTICKS
---------

There are 3 modes : Right joystick(default), Left Joystick, keyboard arrows. Cycle through these modes with Wiimote/Classic + button or GameCube Z.

CoCo and Dragon have two joysticks ports(left and right) and most games use them. By default, the first Wiimote/GameCube controller is the right joystick.
Depending on the software, the first player may be the right or left joystick. In joystick mode, A/2 button is Coco/Dragon 'fire button'.
If a game doesn't support joystick, you may switch to 'keyboard' mode. In this mode the dpad/stick emulates the Coco arrow keys, and A button is key Space.
Other keys are mapped to Wii buttons (can be reconfigured in the virtual keyboard) :

Note that the Wiimote pointer emulates the CoCo/Dragon mouse.(rarely useful).


In the settings menu, you will find two options to adjust the sticks and dpad.

- Joy sensitivity : if the stick isn't responding well, try to toggle this option.

- Dpad delay : It's 'off' by default, and should stay like this in most cases. When set to 'on', it tries to simulate a stick, it sends a
continuous press by small range. It can be useful for mouse based software, or games like Arkanoid.

VIRTUAL KEYBOARD
----------------

Open it with Wiimote/Classic - or GC pad L button. Select the key(s) with the Wiimote pointer, or dpad/stick and push 'Done'.
Sometimes, the key isn't sent correctly, it may be better to bind it in this case.
You can bind a key to most buttons. Select the key with the dpad and press + to open the mapper. From there, press the desired button.

NOTES
-----

The option -joy-left from XRoar Wii v0.1 when used as a plugin argument has no effect now. The joysticks are handled differently, the first found Wii controller will always be
the right Coco/Dragon joystick at startup.


KNOWN ISSUES
------------

- When a rom file (.ccc, .rom) is launched, it's replacing the DOS cartridge. You can re-enable DOS in the settings menu. However, most of the time, even after
a reset, the emulator is stuck on a green screen. You'll have to load a DOS rom manually or just quit...

- Saving a snapshot on a USB device takes a long time.

- The key pressed on the virtual keyboard isn't always sent correctly.

- For text based software, use an usb keyboard.

From the main menu, you can access the virtual keyboard. You can send a key or a few commands ,like 'DIR' or BASIC'.
You can also bind buttons to TRS80 key or commands. Open the main menu, go to 'GUI', 'Joystick settings' and 'Map Joystick...'.
An usb keyboard is still highly recommended for the text based softwares and to type commands.

LOADING GAME
-------------
- Once in NewDos, type "dir" to list the directory in disk 1.
- If it has a cmd extension, just type the name of the file you want to start followed by [Enter].
- If it has a bas extension, type BASIC and RUN"filename/bas"[Enter].

Some games can't be started with the previous method. They have to be started without NewDos, inserted in disk0 and may
need another model. The arguments plugin .ini has to be modified.
For example : -model3|-disk0|{device}:/{path}/{name}

An alternative to start every games, without typing a command everytime, is to use savestates.
Off course, the game has to be launched once, and saved from the emulator's menu. The trs80.ini file will be like this:

The Wii version finally supports automatic encoding detection through the ICU library. The Wii version was the only one that lacked ICU, due to the CPU of the Wii which is a PowerPC. PowerPC is “Big endian” and most other platforms (like PC or Android) are “Little Endian”. The endianess influences how bytes are stored, e.g. Big stores as AA BB CC DD and Little as DD CC BB AA, so you have to swap the data (we do this when reading LDB and other files). Même sort pour la branche MOD de l'excellent émulateur Super Nintendo pour la Wii, "Snes9x GX", portage de Snes9x réalisé initialement par Tantric.
Les versions officiel et MOD fusionnent en version 4.3.7 officiel.

Après 4 ans d'absence, Tantric donne le feu vert afin que la branche officiel de l'excellent émulateur Game Boy/Game Boy Advance pour la nintendo Wii "Visual Boy Advance GX" rejoigne la version MOD sur lequel a travaillé Zopenko, libertyernie, Glitch, cebolleto, etc... Pour rappel "Visual Boy Advance GX" est le portage de VBA-M.
