LOADING GAMES
-------------

The firmware ROM files in /apps/xroar are essential. If the emulator starts with a screen full of @, it means that it failed to find the files.
Refer to the manual(xroar.pdf), chapter 6 for more information on these files.

To load a program, open the main menu, chose 'Load File' and select the file. It will try to start the file automatically if 'autorun' is enabled(by default).
If it doesn't start, here are the general commands :

- Disks(.vdk, .dsk) : Type[Enter] to list the files and see the executable. For Dragon, type RUN"FILE.BAS" or RUN"FILE.BIN".
For Coco, type RUN"FILE.BAS" or LOADM\"FILE.BIN\":EXEC

- Tapes(.cas) : Type CLOADM:EXEC (machine code) or CLOAD:RUN (Basic). Dos emulation must be disabled.

- Cartridges(.rom, .bin, .ccc) : they should all autorun, if it doesn't run, the file isn't supported.

Before loading another game, you may need ro reset the machine and/or toggle DOS emulation.
Sometimes, a software needs specific commands to start. Consult the game manual.

JOYSTICKS
---------

There are 3 modes : Right joystick(default), Left Joystick, keyboard arrows. Cycle through these modes with Wiimote/Classic + button or GameCube Z.

CoCo and Dragon have two joysticks ports(left and right) and most games use them. By default, the first Wiimote/GameCube controller is the right joystick.
Depending on the software, the first player may be the right or left joystick. In joystick mode, A/2 button is Coco/Dragon 'fire button'.
If a game doesn't support joystick, you may switch to 'keyboard' mode. In this mode the dpad/stick emulates the Coco arrow keys, and A button is key Space.
Other keys are mapped to Wii buttons (can be reconfigured in the virtual keyboard) :

* [1] = Wiimote button 1 / GameCube button X
* [Y] = Wiimote/Classic/GC Y
* [Enter] = Wiimote/Classic/GC B
* [Space] = Wiimote/Classic/GC A (Joystick mode)
* Fire Button = Wiimote/Classic/GC button A (Keyboard mode)

Note that the Wiimote pointer emulates the CoCo/Dragon mouse.(rarely useful).


In the settings menu, you will find two options to adjust the sticks and dpad.

- Joy sensitivity : if the stick isn't responding well, try to toggle this option.

- Dpad delay : It's 'off' by default, and should stay like this in most cases. When set to 'on', it tries to simulate a stick, it sends a
continuous press by small range. It can be useful for mouse based software, or games like Arkanoid.


CONTROLS

Here are the menu controls and special buttons used in-game.

Wiimote:

A/2 : Confirm
B/1 : Back
- : Open virtual keyboard
+ : Select joystick mode/toggle option
Home : Open main menu/help

Classic controller:

A : Confirm
B : Back
- : Open virtual keyboard
+ : Select joystick mode/toggle option
Home : Open main menu/help

GameCube controller:

A : Confirm
B : Back
L : Toggle option
Z : Select joystick mode
Start : Open main menu/help


VIRTUAL KEYBOARD
----------------

Open it with Wiimote/Classic - or GC pad L button. Select the key(s) with the Wiimote pointer, or dpad/stick and push 'Done'.
Sometimes, the key isn't sent correctly, it may be better to bind it in this case.
You can bind a key to most buttons. Select the key with the dpad and press + to open the mapper. From there, press the desired button.

NOTES
-----

The option -joy-left from XRoar Wii v0.1 when used as a plugin argument has no effect now. The joysticks are handled differently, the first found Wii controller will always be
the right Coco/Dragon joystick at startup.


KNOWN ISSUES
------------

- When a rom file (.ccc, .rom) is launched, it's replacing the DOS cartridge. You can re-enable DOS in the settings menu. However, most of the time, even after
a reset, the emulator is stuck on a green screen. You'll have to load a DOS rom manually or just quit...

- Saving a snapshot on a USB device takes a long time.

- The key pressed on the virtual keyboard isn't always sent correctly.

- For text based software, use an usb keyboard.

The emulator requires a ROM file called level2.rom.
A system file disk (NewDos/80) called newdos80.dsk in the disks folder is also needed (not always though).

The games in .dsk, copied in /roms/trs80/disks are launched from disk 1.

The emulator can be used as a plugin or as a standalone homebrew.

You can also bind buttons to TRS80 key or commands. Open the main menu, go to 'GUI', 'Joystick settings' and 'Map Joystick...'.
An usb keyboard is still highly recommended for the text based softwares and to type commands.

LOADING GAME
-------------
- Once in NewDos, type "dir" to list the directory in disk 1.
- If it has a cmd extension, just type the name of the file you want to start followed by [Enter].
- If it has a bas extension, type BASIC and RUN"filename/bas"[Enter].

Some games can't be started with the previous method. They have to be started without NewDos, inserted in disk0 and may
need another model. The arguments plugin .ini has to be modified.
For example : -model3|-disk0|{device}:/{path}/{name}

An alternative to start every games, without typing a command everytime, is to use savestates.
Off course, the game has to be launched once, and saved from the emulator's menu. The trs80.ini file will be like this:

Cassette are supported but takes ages to load. They can't load with NewDos. The argument for the plugin would be :

The Wii version finally supports automatic encoding detection through the ICU library. The Wii version was the only one that lacked ICU, due to the CPU of the Wii which is a PowerPC. PowerPC is “Big endian” and most other platforms (like PC or Android) are “Little Endian”. The endianess influences how bytes are stored, e.g. Big stores as AA BB CC DD and Little as DD CC BB AA, so you have to swap the data (we do this when reading LDB and other files). To compile for Wii we “cross compile”, that means we use a compiler on our PC, that generates PowerPC code for the Wii (that’s faster and more convenient), but ICU doesn’t support mixed endian builds (because their build system involves running some tools on the PC which don’t support byte swapping). Même sort pour la branche MOD de l'excellent émulateur Super Nintendo pour la Wii, "Snes9x GX", portage de Snes9x réalisé initialement par Tantric.
Les versions officiel et MOD fusionnent en version 4.3.7 officiel.

Après 4 ans d'absence, Tantric donne le feu vert afin que la branche officiel de l'excellent émulateur Game Boy/Game Boy Advance pour la nintendo Wii "Visual Boy Advance GX" rejoigne la version MOD sur lequel a travaillé Zopenko, libertyernie, Glitch, cebolleto, etc... Pour rappel "Visual Boy Advance GX" est le portage de VBA-M.

DaeFennek propose la version 0.0.2 puis 0.0.3 alpha de "WoxelCraft", moteur de jeu utilisant les Voxel, une technique utilisée pour afficher les terrains dans certains jeux video (Outcast, Cube World, etc...). C'est également un basique clone de l'incontournable Minecraft.

Après libertyernie et après la version MOD de "Snes9x GX", Zopenko propose la version 2.3.4 MOD de l'excellent émulateur Game Boy/Game Boy Advance pour la nintendo Wii "Visual Boy Advance GX", portage de VBA-M. Il vient corriger quelques bugs et ajouter quelques features.

Une belle surprise ce matin, la mise à jour 0.0.5 de "Hatari Wii" par Wiimpathy, portage de l'émuateur Atari ST pour la nintendo Wii.

Installing and running the Emulator

Note, inside the archive read 'Manual_HatariWii.pdf' and 'manual.html' for in depth information!

Install the Emulator by unpacking the archive to a USB drive or SD card. The folder structure will be created and Hatari can then be launched directly with the Homebrew channel, or any other homebrew launcher. It also can be used as a plugin, and launched with command arguments through WiiFlow or Postloader (see Wiiflow plugin section). The emulator and folders can be copied on SD card, or USB drive. When the emulator starts, it looks for a configuration file (hatari.cfg) and a TOS file in the current directory. Here is the default directory structure :

/apps/hatari

the default executable (boot.dol), configuration file (hatari.cfg) and TOS (tos.img) directory.

/hatari/fd

the floppy disk directory. Copy the games and softwares images here. The supported floppy images formats are : .st, .stx, .msa, or .dim.

/hatari/saves : the memory snapshots are saved in this directory.

/hatari/hd : hard disk directory.

/hatari/doc : document directory. Manuals in image format can be stored here. The image viewer can read .png, .jpg or .bmp files.
TOS

The tos file is the operated system. By default, it should be named tos.img, and placed in /apps/hatari. The included Tos is a free version, and is called the Emutos. For better compatibility, use original TOS 1.02 or 1.04 for ST games, and TOS 1.62 or 2.06 for STE games. Tos 3.0x are for TT, and 4.0x are for falcon (untested in the Wii version).

Hatari Wii is shipped with Emutos, a free TOS. Use a real TOS for better compatibility!

The keypad numbers on the virtual keyboard don't correspond to the real ST scancodes. In fact, the scancodes are those of the numbers on top of the ST keyboard.

Very few games need the keypad. One of these games is Welltris. A workaround to bind the keypad to Wii pads is to edit the .cfg manually by adding the scancodes.
Here is an example :

in [Joystick0] section, modify nKeytoJoyWii1Left = 104 for key '4' on d-pad Left and nKeytoJoyWii1Right = 108 for key '6' on d-pad Right.

You can find the scancodes here : http://www.atari-wiki.com/?title=Atari_ ... een_Menace. The codes have to be converted from hexa to decimal.

The Wiiflow plugin has been essentially tested with an SD card and USB drive setup. For USB only, the default paths may require some tweakings in hatari.cfg.

A manual located in the Doc folder can be read directly in the emulator. It's an image version of the Manual_HatariWii.pdf.
